When Men Lead in a Godly Way

When Men Lead in a Godly Way

Episode 84 with Pastor Crawford Loritts

I first heard of Pastor Crawford Loritts through a series titled Stepping Up. The series was aimed towards calling men to live a courageous life in the Lord. What Pastor Loritts spoke about in the series touched the hearts of men behind prison walls in Teague, Texas. We delighted in his teachings and his fervor for the gospel message. Ever since then, he has been one of my favorites to listen to. He’s as genuine, sincere, and humble as a man of God should be. You won’t hear him call attention to himself or strive for position; you will hear him point us to the Lord. In this episode, we discuss a leadership that is close to home; the leadership mantle that God calls men to pick up and live by. No matter how we may want to arrange our lives, our choices make a clear path for our destiny. Choose truth, joy, faith, community, and service, for God has called you into His family!

When God Leads The Way

When God Leads The Way

Episode 81 with Charlie Houck

I first met Charlie Houck when he was heading up the discipleship ministry at Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas. With a sincere desire to do the work of the Lord, Charlie shared his vision with me about planting a church in San Diego, California. We hit it off quite easily, being that we both served in the U.S. Navy. Now that he and his wife, Audrey, are finally at the point of reaching San Diego, it hasn’t been so easy. However, isn’t that what we can expect when great things are being done for the Kingdom of God?

As soon as we make a decision to commit to the vision that the good Lord lays upon our hearts, we can surely expect that the enemy won’t be happy. Obstacles and challenges are just part of the pursuit, but God always makes a way in what He wills. Listen in as Charlie Houck shares his family’s journey in planting Cause Church.

My dear friend in the Lord, Pastor Kevin Bailey has been blessed by God. We met years back and the Lord has blessed us with an awesome friendship. I have seen God do great things through my friend, and have also seen the effect that God’s love has had on this brother. He longs to walk with others and disciple men along the way, always willing to pay the price with the Lord. Today we are talking about the endeavor that God has surely placed on his heart, the Kingdom Living transitional house. The journey from behind prison walls to living as a free man may be long and enduring, but God has surely made it possible.

Episode 78 with Jim Hampton

Jim Hampton and I met back when we were both young in the faith and looking to grow in the Lord while serving as members of the same church.  Our church homes have since changed, but Jim is still out here serving, now in a more official capacity as the outreach pastor of Creekwood Church in Mansfield, TX. In addition to that ministry, he also continues to work in the marketplace, where God provides for Jim and his family. In this episode, we are catching up to talk about the growth we get to experience through discipleship and in serving others.

Keeping The Faith Through It All

Keeping The Faith Through It All

Episode 77 with Bill Barnett

Bill Barnett is a real estate investor here in the DFW area.  He and I met a few years ago through a mutual friend – my real estate mentor, Dennis Henson.  Bill has had great success in real estate, authored a book – Are You Dumb Enough to Be Rich?, and has recently started not one but two podcasts! But maybe even more impressive than his career as investor and speaker is his work in the “trenches”, out here ministering to men through the everyday pains of life and pointing them to Jesus.

Have We Lost Compassion

Have We Lost Compassion?

Episode 76 with Dr. Nate Hearne

Dr. Nate Hearne and I first met in a Texas correctional unit, where I volunteer.  At that time, he was the unit chaplain, ministering to the “men in white” day in and day out.  I’ve had the privilege of hearing Dr. Hearne, who I know as “Chap”, preach to and share his heart with those guys.  As a lifetime educator, he and his wife speak in local school districts and other organizations, looking to encourage the young people before they get into the system.  Chap is also a previous guest on the podcast, where we talked about his book Friday Night Lights: Untold Stories from Behind the Lights. In this episode, I’m catching up with him and getting his unique perspective and thoughts on all the things going on in our world today.
