Dr Gary Comer is a professor, author, and founder of Soul Whisperer Ministry. After reading his latest book, ReMISSION: Rethinking How Church Leaders Create Movement, I reached out to Dr Gary to find out more about his thoughts on The Great Commission, evangelizing in our communities, and where he thinks the church may be falling short.
What does it take for us to establish a flourishing relationship with the Lord? Growing up in church is a great place to start, but that’s no guarantee. What does it take to get our attention? Kenneth Hill is a great friend, a faithful servant, and a minister for the Lord. He’s on the podcast today sharing what happened in his life that brought such growth in his personal relationship with Christ, and how we too can have confidence in Him to see us through every trial.
What do you remember about the people in your high school? Do you remember seeing a certain group of kids from time to time – the ones who were in the special education class? Eventually, the time would come when they had to graduate and transition out of high school. Then what? Where do individuals with special physical and intellectual needs go after high school? Sadly, resources are scarce and the options are few. Our guest on the podcast today is doing her part and then some to change that. Ms. Brenda Ornales is the founder of Heather’s Old Skool Village – a unique “school” in Lake Worth, Texas, that is set up especially for these adults who are no longer eligible to attend public school. Joining Brenda is her friend and office manager, Margie Johnson. These ladies are sharing with us the story and mission of Heather’s Old Skool Village, and what we as a community can do to help them fulfill their calling.
Our guest today is an author, a speaker, an advocate, and a consultant on the issues of child exploitation and human trafficking. As a survivor herself, she offers a unique perspective that is beneficial to the agencies investigating the criminals involved. She is a courageous voice speaking on behalf of those who have been, currently are, or will be, victims of the sex trafficking industry. Most importantly, Ms. Chong Kim is on the podcast to share how her faith pushes her in this huge task she’s been given.
How do you define success? Is it found in trophies and championships? Is it in completing advanced degrees? Are you successful when people know of you before they’ve met you? Today’s guest has experienced all of that, and then some. He also knows that sometimes being at the top puts a bullseye on your back. Dr. Nathanial Hearne has found success as a coach, a mentor, an administrator, a pastor, and most recently, as a chaplain in a Texas prison. Before any of those roles, he is a husband, father of five, and grandfather of three. He’s sharing with us today the success that comes when we walk in the purpose and call that God places on our lives.
When it comes to business and career, we often move with intent, striving to become better at whatever it is we’ve been given to do. If we want to improve our marriages, we can seek mentors who will counsel us or attend seminars. Sometimes, just getting away as a couple is enough to refocus our efforts and improve communication and unity. Even as parents, it’s important to us to become better moms and dads. In fact, Susan Seay, who recently spoke at the THSC Homeschool Convention and hosts the Mentor4Moms podcast, talks about this very topic of moving with intent to improve parent-child relationships. But in recent conversations, our host noticed a common theme. As Christians, we might be settling for average (or worse!) when that’s not at all what God intended. In this episode, Jake shares an easy-to-remember way to “get better” by protecting our minds: ACT.
He’s a believer, a husband, a father, a singer, and a songwriter. Born and raised in the Midwest, Matt Fawcett writes music that will “comfort the afflicted and confront the comfortable”. He makes himself available through social media outlets, willing and open to talk, keeping an eye out for the hurting. He’s on the podcast today with testimony.
Our friend, Rick Norton, is a Southern California native living in Mansfield, Texas. Rick retired from General Motors after 29 years, a job that took him from California to Ohio and finally to the Lone Star State. He and his wife Kara are real estate investors, managing numerous rental properties in the Fort Worth area. He’s on the podcast today to share his testimony of a life transformed by God’s sobering grace.Details Click Here
We’re excited to have on the podcast today a brother in Christ out of Torrance, California. He’s worked in Los Angeles County for more than 25 years in law enforcement, with vast experience as a cold-case detective. More recently, he’s an author and popular speaker spending his time showing people that the case could be made from evidence for Christianity. Jim Wallace is on the podcast today to help us consistently and confidently give a reason for the very hope that is in us.
Obstacles.Challenges.Difficulties.Whatever you call them, be it in our personal lives or in our business, they’re coming. Take heart as our host shares some encouraging truths about these inevitable hurdles in today’s episode.
